The Malayalee Club, Chennai, established in 1897 under the patronage of the Royal Houses of Travancore, Cochin and Calicut, cater to the Malayalee diaspora in Chennai and nearby places. It is one of the oldest social and cultural institutions in the Country and is a true symbol of the rich traditions and varied cultural heritage of Kerala. Great leaders and stalwarts of yesteryears were involved in creating this prestigious organisation, to carry forward the unique traditions of Kerala.
The administration of the club vested with the elected members of the Executive Committee have taken many steps over the years to develop the club and its facilities. A huge leap was taken by the previous EC, and because of that, today the Club boasts of a very spacious auditorium, 2 banquet halls for conducting marriages, conferences or other functions, 4 halls for smallermeetings/board meetings and 26 guest rooms. In addition to this, other facilities include library, reading room, card room, restaurant, permit room, gymnasium, TT & other sports infrastructure. The new EC led by me is now trying to bring in all facilities to the infrastructure created, so that members will have an enjoyable experiance every time they visit the club.
One of the promises in our manifesto, was the creation of a new website for the club, and true to our word, today on the day we are celebrating “Kerala Piravi”, a new website www.themalayaleeclubchennai.org is also getting launched! I thank my team for having created this site which will help us bond together more, and give a space for exhibiting the creative energies of all our members and their children.
There is great scope for improvement of the website and hence we welcome creative suggestions from all members. I wish you happy browsing!
